Corporate magician for Dublin events
Close-up magic for arrivals receptions, conferences and client dinners. Based in Cork, travelling to Dublin. Available for Sunday to Thursday events.
An arrivals reception that breaks the ice
An arrivals or drinks reception is a great way to break the ice at most corporate events. Guests arrive, many don’t know each other, and the first half-hour can feel stiff. Close-up magic fixes that. I move between small groups with cards, coins and borrowed objects, and within minutes strangers are laughing and comparing notes on what they just saw. There’s no stage, no microphone and nobody put on the spot.
I’m Gerard Kearney, a close-up magician with nearly three decades of experience and the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) Ring 85 Close-Up Champion. Apple and Google have booked me for their events, and Vodafone chose me for a web-campaign commercial. I’m based in Cork and travel to Dublin for corporate work.
Corporate events I perform at in Dublin
- Arrivals and drinks receptions. The easiest icebreaker there is, while guests arrive and mingle.
- Conferences. Close-up mingling at welcome receptions and networking breaks, and at the tables during the conference dinner.
- Client dinners and hospitality. Close-up at the table and while guests mingle, polished and friendly so the evening flows around your guests.
- Awards nights. Close-up during the reception to set the mood before the ceremony.
- Product launches and networking events. Gets guests talking to each other and to your team.
- Christmas parties. Staff and client nights out. Christmas party magician
Sets usually run 30–90 minutes, fitted to your running order.

Sunday to Thursday events in Dublin
Dublin is busy during the week: conferences in the city’s hotels, sales kick-offs, client dinners and awards. I’m available for Sunday to Thursday events, and those are the nights when an arrivals reception works hardest. Delegates who have been in sessions all day need something to talk about, and it costs you nothing in staging or AV.

Dublin venues where close-up magic works well
Close-up magic needs no stage, so it suits almost any Dublin venue. That includes city-centre hotels such as The Shelbourne, The Westbury or The Merrion, conference venues like the Convention Centre Dublin, the RDS or Croke Park, and event spaces such as The Round Room at the Mansion House or the Guinness Storehouse. Whatever the room, tell me where you are and I’ll tell you how I’d run it.
I just want to say a massive thank you for your performance on Friday night. My colleagues have been complimenting you since!
